I was working on generating image links from a set of selected files on Mac Finder, using Keyboard Maestro. During this process, I had a need to bulk-rename files on a folder in Mac, with random characters.
I was pretty sure that Mac did not have a default feature to do that. There is a way to rename files in batch, yes, but there isn’t a way to rename with random characters.
A sample search on DuckDuckGo led me to this StackExchange answer. As shown there, this is possible using Bash and I am happy with this process!
I modified this a bit to copy the final files to a separate folder instead of dropping them on
~/Pictures path. A copy of my current script is available below.
